Direction detection
Universal Train-Wheel Detector (UTD) can be applied as direction detector and as such can directly replace other direction detectors including mechanical electro-hydraulic contacts and other electronic detectors.
One of the applications where direction detectors are used is for safe closing of level crossings. Direction detectors will ensure that the level crossing is closed only when the train is approaching the level crossing and not in the direction when going away from the level crossing.
UTD provides direction information without compromising safety. It is one of a kind system that supports both single rail and both rails installation, thus providing compliancy with railway operators that require sensors on both rails for level crossing applications.
This configuration uses two wheel sensors UTD-DM and two evaluator boards UTD-SMA installed in a standardised rack assembly with appropriate power supply*.
